NEXTWAVE DIAGNOSTIC LABORATORIES OPENS IN JACKSONVILLE

Jacksonville, North Carolina: October 18, 2004- NextWave Diagnostic Laboratories was created earlier this year by several principals from Wilmington Pathology Associates (WPA) in response to a desire by healthcare providers for a higher level of service and accessibility within eastern North Carolina. Medical Direction will be provided by pathologists of WPA, which has provided anatomic and clinicalpathology services to the medical communities of southeastern North Carolina since 1976.

NextWave Diagnostic Laboratories utilizes the latest technology to offer phlebotomy services, STAT testing, and same day results along with a full reference menu. NextWave is a full service, accredited laboratory staffed with a team of highly trained professionals whose approach to offer a high degree of personal attention, affordable testing and strong technical system innovations will advance the caliber of all medicine through clinical laboratory improvements. With the opening of NextWave in Jacksonville at 200 Doctors Drive Suite E, these two organizations are now able to offer an additional level of care, providing expertise in clinical laboratory medicine from area pathologists.

Wilmington Pathology Associates was founded in 1976 and began serving New Hanover County as a hospital based group at New Hanover Memorial Hospital. WPA has grown to provide pathology services for Cape Fear Memorial Hospital, Wilmington SurgCare, Pender Memorial Hospital and many independent physicians' practices.
